Being a Cowboys fan and seeing the words “Philadelphia Eagles” on the schedule simultaneously strikes hatred and stirs up the butterflies in your stomach. Although there are many great NFL rivalries, this particular matchup is the most intense. What has caused this animosity? Three decades of hard fought battles and fans that truly detest each other.
- In the 1989 season Eagles coach, Buddy Ryan, allegedly placed a $200 bounty on Cowboys kicker Luis Zendejas and quarterback Troy Aikman. Although these allegations were never proven, these games werenotoriously coined “The Bounty Bowls”.
- On Oct. 11, 1999, Dallas Cowboys beloved receiver Michael Irvin suffered a career-ending neck injury after landing awkwardly on his head at Veterans Stadium. As paramedics placed Irvin on a stretcher, Eagle fans cheered as he was carried off the field.

Dallas leads the all-time series: 62-48 - In 2011, GQ magazine voted Philadelphia sports fans the worst in America. The GQ article supports their claim by providing a list of unspeakable acts including: booing Santa Claus, their own star players, injured players, and even worse a fan intentionally throwing up on an 11-year old girl. The fans were so unruly that the city of Philadelphia installed a court in their old stadium.
- On December 29, 2013, in Week 17 of the 2013 season, the Eagles and Cowboys faced off at AT&T Stadium with the NFC East Championship on the line. The winner would claim the final playoff spot in the NFC, while the losers’ season would be over. With Tony Romo out due to a back injury backup quarterback Kyle Orton would lead the team. In the last few minutes of the game, the Eagles intercepted the ball and the Cowboys would fall short 24-22.
